Make a plan

Always make a plan to get home safely:

  • Check public transport options.
  • Make sure that you have enough money left to get a taxi.
  • Organise to stay at a friend's house.
  • Organise a friend to be the designated driver for the night.
  • Never let a friend who's been drinking drive home. Take away their keys if you're worried that they might drive.
  • Never get in the car with someone who you think has been drinking. Remember, it can be hard to tell how much someone has had to drink, so if you're unsure don't get in the car!
  • Call someone who hasn’t been drinking – a friend, your older brother or sister, even your parents!
  • Don't ever be afraid to call the ambulance on triple zero (000), remember if you call the ambulance police won't usually attend.
